regent street windows duchamp (2011)
3.3x4.5x3m polished aluminium, plywood, fabric

This installation uses colours, shapes, objects, lights, and the images of onlookers, which are revealed and obscured. Each intake of the piece is different; each breath creates the world anew. Through a variety of reflective surfaces an ever-changing pattern of movement is created, suggesting a breathing kaleidoscope that moves gradually in and out.
Duchamp’s richly patterned fabrics are framed and suspended between the movements and become part of the abstract dialogue with the street. Passers by, shoppers, moving buses and London’s diverse streetscape are captured in fleeting moments, pulled in and pushed back in ever increasing and decreasing rhythms.
